Method
- Place the saltine crackers in a large bowl or a very large resealable bag.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper until well combined.
- Pour the seasoned oil mixture over the crackers.
- Gently toss or turn the bag to coat the crackers evenly without breaking them.
- Let the crackers sit for 10 to 15 minutes, tossing or turning them occasionally so the seasoning is absorbed evenly.
- Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper if you prefer a drier, crispier cracker.
- Spread the crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet or use the bowl-and-bag method if you are serving them without baking.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the crackers are fragrant and lightly toasted.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving so they crisp up fully.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
For extra heat, add more red pepper flakes or a little more cayenne. Let the crackers cool completely before storing so they stay crisp. If you prefer a no-bake version, skip the oven and serve after the seasoning has absorbed.
