Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your donut pan(s).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, combine the plant-based milk, apple cider vinegar, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Add the red food coloring and mix until consistent.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut cavities, filling them about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the glaze by beating the softened cream cheese until smooth, then gradually mix in the powdered sugar and plant-based milk until creamy.
- Once the donuts are cool, dip the tops into the cream cheese glaze and allow excess to drip off.
- Let the glaze set for 15-20 minutes before serving.
Notes
To achieve optimal flavor and texture, avoid overmixing the batter and ensure all ingredients are at room temperature.
