Method
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly coat it with nonstick cooking spray.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet and bake according to the package directions until crisp and golden brown, about 25 to 30 minutes, flipping halfway through if desired.
- Remove the tots from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven for 2 to 4 minutes, just until the cheese is melted.
- Transfer the loaded tater tots to a serving platter and top with the crumbled bacon, sliced green onions, and chopped chives.
- In a small bowl, stir together the sour cream, garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Serve the dip on the side or drizzle it over the tots.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
For extra flavor, add jalapeños, ranch seasoning, or a drizzle of hot sauce. You can also swap cheddar for a cheddar-jack blend.
