Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the refried beans with taco seasoning until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the sour cream and softened cream cheese until smooth.
  3. Spread the bean mixture evenly in the bottom of a large clear serving dish or shallow baking dish.
  4. Carefully spread the sour cream and cream cheese mixture over the bean layer.
  5. Add a smooth layer of guacamole, then top with the drained salsa.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded lettuce evenly over the top.
  7. Add the cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese in an even layer.
  8. Finish with black olives, diced tomatoes, green onions, and jalapeƱos if using.
  9. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to help the layers set.
  10. Serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

Drain the salsa well so the dip stays layered and does not become watery. For best texture, soften the cream cheese before mixing and chill the dip before serving.
