Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • fresh lemon wedges
  • sea salt and cracked black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Wash asparagus under cold running water and pat dry, then snap off woody ends.
  2. In a small bowl, combine raw honey, minced garlic, and soy sauce, and whisk until smooth.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil until shimmering.
  4. Place asparagus in a single layer in the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour the garlic honey mixture over the asparagus, reduce heat, and toss constantly for 1-2 minutes until coated.
  6. Season with sea salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes, then serve with a squeeze of lemon juice.

Notes

Ensure asparagus is firm and bright green. Trim ends to avoid stringiness. The dish is best served fresh.
