  • 1 cup warm filtered water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.5 cups crushed San Marzano tomato sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded or sliced fresh mozzarella cheese
  • premium nitrate-free pepperoni slices
  • fresh basil leaves
  • pinch of dried oregano

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Activate the yeast by combining warm water, honey, and yeast in a bowl, letting it sit until foamy.
  2. Step 2: Mix the dough by adding olive oil and salt, then stir in the flour until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
  4. Step 4: Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth for at least an hour.

  6. Step 6: Shape the risen dough into a heart on parchment paper.
