Ingredients

  • 2 slices Thick-cut Sourdough or Brioche
  • 1/2 cup Sharp Aged Cheddar (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup Gruyère or Fontina (for meltability)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Grass-fed Butter (room temp)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard or Roasted Garlic Spread
  • Pinch of Sea Salt and Smoked Paprika

Method

  1. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut two slices of bread at the same time.
  2. Preheat your cast iron skillet over medium-low heat to approximately 325°F (163°C).
  3. Spread a thin layer of room-temperature butter on one side of each heart-shaped bread.
  4. Place one slice, butter-side down, in the skillet. Add Dijon mustard and cheese blend, then top with the second slice, butter-side up.
  5. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the sandwich in one swift motion and press down lightly.
  6. Cover the pan with a lid for the last 60 seconds to allow the cheese to melt thoroughly.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 24 hours. To reheat, use an air fryer at 350°F for 3 to 5 minutes or a dry skillet over low heat.
