  • 3/4 cup warm whole milk
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 organic eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted grass-fed butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Method
 

  1. Activate the Yeast: Warm the milk to lukewarm, stir in honey and yeast, and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Mix the Liquid Base: In a bowl, whisk together remaining honey, eggs, and vanilla. Add the yeast mixture.
  3. Incorporate the Flour: Gradually add flour and salt, then mix in softened butter until tacky.
  4. Knead with Intent: Knead dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. The First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise for 90 minutes.
  6. Shape the Hearts: Roll out dough and cut out heart shapes with a cutter.
  7. The Second Rise: Place donuts on baking sheets, cover, and let rise for 45 minutes.
  8. The Baking Process: Preheat oven to 375°F and bake donuts for 10-12 minutes until golden.
  9. Glaze and Decorate: Dip tops in a glaze made of mashed raspberries and maple syrup.
