Ingredients
Method
- Prepare your mise en place by peeling, coring, and finely dicing your apples.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold until just combined.
- Carefully fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
- Heat 4-6 cups of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying only 3-4 fritters at a time.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown, then drain on a wire rack.
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract for the glaze.
- Glaze the fritters while they are still warm and serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure the oil temperature remains at 350°F for the best results. Drain fritters on a wire rack to maintain crispness.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
