Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 6 slices thick-cut baco
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted grass-fed butter
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Method

  1. Wash the fresh green beans thoroughly in cold water and trim the stem ends.
  2. Place chopped bacon in a cold skillet and turn the heat to medium, cooking until golden and crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, keeping drippings in the pan.
  3. Add fresh green beans to the skillet with bacon fat and sauté over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes until bright green with slight charred spots.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper until the sugar mostly dissolves.
  5. Pour the glaze over the cooked green beans, reduce heat to medium-low, and continuously toss until coated. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes until desired tenderness.
  6. Stir the crispy bacon bits back into the pan, toss to combine, and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for best results. Store leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to three days. Reheat gently in a skillet to maintain texture.
