Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamo
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for topping)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 6-cavity donut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden brown and springy to the touch.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before removing them.
  8. Mix the topping sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Dip each warm donut in melted butter, then coat in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  9. Place the coated donuts on a wire rack to cool completely or enjoy warm.
