Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups (240g) All-Purpose Flour
  • ¾ cup (150g) Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 large Egg, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (240ml) Buttermilk, at room temperature
  • ¼ cup (57g) Unsalted Butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 ½ cups (180g) Powdered Sugar (for the glaze)
  • 3-4 tbsp Milk (dairy or non-dairy) (for the glaze)
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract (for the glaze)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your donut pan(s).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold gently until just combined.
  5. Fill the donut pan cavities about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth.
  9. Once donuts are cool, glaze them and let set before serving.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. Do not overmix the batter. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze un-glazed donuts for up to 3 months.
