Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons BBQ dry rub (store-bought or homemade)
½ cup BBQ sauce (for basting)
Instructions
Prepare the Chicken:
Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel.
Brush each breast with olive oil to help the rub adhere.
Generously season both sides with the BBQ dry rub. Let the chicken sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes.
Preheat the Traeger:
Set your Traeger grill to 225°F and allow it to preheat for 15 minutes with the lid closed.
Smoke the Chicken:
Place the chicken breasts directly on the grill grates.
Smoke for 60–90 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F using a meat thermometer.
Baste and Finish:
During the last 10 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with BBQ sauce to create a sticky, caramelized glaze.
Rest and Serve:
Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing or serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce for 1–2 hours before applying the dry rub.
Use a mild wood pellet like applewood or cherrywood for a subtle smoky flavor.
