Dough:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ¾ cup warm water (110°F)
Sauce & Toppings:
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 10–12 slices pepperoni
- 4–5 fresh basil leaves (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing the crust)
- 1 tbsp cornmeal (for dusting)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, and salt.
- Add olive oil and warm water. Stir until dough forms.
- Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
2️⃣ Shape the Dough:
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll dough into a circle, about 12 inches wide.
- Use a knife to cut a small slit at the top center.
- Gently pull and shape into a heart. Pinch the bottom to form the point.
3️⃣ Add Toppings:
- Transfer dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone dusted with cornmeal.
- Spread tomato sauce evenly, leaving a ½-inch border.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Arrange pepperoni slices and fresh basil leaves.
- Brush crust with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
4️⃣ Bake the Pizza:
- Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until crust is golden.
- Let cool for 2-3 minutes before slicing.
