Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup diced ham (smoked, honey, or Black Forest)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère)
- 1 pre-baked 9-inch pastry crust (optional for crustless quiche)
- ½ cup optional vegetables (spinach, onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: ¼ tsp nutmeg (for added flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the crust (if using): Blind bake the pastry crust for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
- Sauté vegetables (optional): If using vegetables, sauté them in a pan to remove excess moisture.
- Whisk the filling: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Assemble the quiche: Layer the diced ham, shredded cheese, and sautéed vegetables (if any) into the crust or directly into a greased pie dish for crustless quiche.
- Pour the egg mixture: Slowly pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese, ensuring even distribution.
- Bake: Place the quiche on a baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Let the quiche cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
Notes
- For a crustless version, skip the pastry crust and grease the pie dish thoroughly.
- Feel free to mix cheeses for a more complex flavor.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes for the best results.
