Ingredients
Scale
- 150g (5 oz) dark chocolate (70% or higher), finely chopped
- 2 cups whole milk (or oat/almond milk for dairy-free)
- ½ cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Heat the milk: In a medium saucepan, warm the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until steaming (do not boil).
- Melt the chocolate: Add the finely chopped dark chocolate and whisk until fully melted and smooth.
- Sweeten & flavor: Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Adjust the sweetness to your liking.
- Thicken the mixture: Let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes, whisking constantly, until thick and creamy.
- Serve & enjoy: Pour into cups and top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- For an extra thick version, add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with a little milk.
- To make it vegan or dairy-free, use oat or almond milk and dairy-free dark chocolate.
- For a spiced version, add a pinch of cinnamon or chili powder for extra warmth.
